Back to its original name from 2020, this super soft, honey based whipped salve is mainly designed to be applied under wound dressings. But it is so much more than that!
Raw honey alone has traditionally been used for thousands of years to draw out infection & support wound healing. Honey is also a humectant, protecting skin’s inherent moisture barrier. This salve contains unfiltered beeswax and our own harvested Calendula flowers, White Pine inner bark, and Plantain leaf, each infused in organic olive oil. We incorporate White Pine infused raw NY honey during the cooling process in order to protect its delicate enzymes.
SUGGESTED USE: Apply directly to skin or under a dressing. Also excellent for burn support including sunburns. Always use cool water soaks before applying any type of salve to a burn. Honey Toolkit is totally edible and feels amazing on the lips (if you don't eat it off!) and can also be used as a super soothing moisture mask such as an overnight treatment for winter parched skin.
KEY INGREDIENTS
RAW HONEY: Honey is a singular perfect substance as well as cosmetic gift. It is the muse and motive of this product to capture its benefit in an easy to apply form. Raw honey alone has traditionally been used as an antimicrobial poultice for wounds and infections for thousands of years. Honey is also a humectant, which means it protects the skin's inherent moisture barrier. We infuse this honey with fresh inner bark and needles of the Eastern White Pine (Pinus strobus) tree to provide additional supportive qualities to the salve. During the product making process, our honey is never exposed to heat above 115 degrees so as to protect its raw enzymes. This honey is sourced from small apiaries the Catskills region of NY state.
CALENDULA FLOWER (Calendula officinalis): We grow this calendula from seed on land we steward in the Catskills region of NY State. The flower heads are hand harvested on sunny days throughout summer and early fall and infused for several weeks in extra virgin olive oil and warm sun. This process extracts the resins of the flower heads and lends the oil a beautiful warm color. Calendula is historically known as a wound healer and is also famous in folk medicine for its anti-inflammatory properties.
WHITE PINE (Pinus strobus): From the beautiful, wise old Eastern white pine of the Catskills, we only harvest newly fallen branches. We freshly infuse the juicy, sticky inner bark and a few green needles in extra virgin olive oil to extract the beneficial resins of the tree. The resultant oil has an incredible smell and finely represents its medicine. Pines have traditionally been used by peoples all over the world for their uniquely antiseptic and wound healing properties.
UNFILTERED BEESWAX: We seek out the sweetest smelling, brightest yellow, unfiltered wax to form the base of our balm. By unfiltered, we mean it contains all the specks of propolis, resins, and other incidentals of the lady bee's work that lend its supportive heft. This beeswax is also only sourced from small NY apiaries and hand grated (yes) by us.
